Three common myths about content marketing

Not everyone understands content marketing, the purpose of it, or exactly how it works. Here are three common myths about content marketing.

1. Start a blog and they will come. Unfortunately in life people rarely just show up unless given a good reason. Once you have a blog, you need useful content that adds value, and an understanding of where and how to promote your blog.

2. Social media is free advertising. This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions. A business page doesn’t work like your personal profile and it’s not there for free advertising either. Social media gives businesses a place to engage with prospects, customers, and more, and that can be a powerful tool if used appropriately.

3. If I have content marketing, I don’t need paid advertising. Unfortunately, this is not true. The fact is you need both content marketing and paid advertising. They work together in a bigger comprehensive marketing plan.

Don’t let these misconceptions sabotage your marketing plans and business goals.
